Fouad previously served for UNDP in Morocco as a Program Analyst in charge of biodiversity and natural resources management (2013-2016), and as a Youth Development Specialist within the UNV program (2011-2013). Before joining the UN System, Fouad worked on implementing grassroot projects, research and advocacy on sustainable development and environmental issues in NGOs in Africa. His fields of expertise include access to genetic resources and benefit sharing (ABS), natural resources management, climate change adaptation, gender mainstreaming and innovation for development.
Fouad holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (Morocco). He holds certificates on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation from SMHI (Sweden), on Sustainability from HOSEI University (Japan), and on Multilateral Environmental Agreements from the University of Eastern Finland. Fouad is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Istanbul Şehir University (Turkey) with a focus on the disruptive potential of blockchain in sustainable development and international relations.
