Claudio Chiarolla is an Eastern European Regional Project Specialist of the UNDP-GEF Global ABS Project that promotes the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol in 24 countries.

Claudio is the Regional Project Specialist for Eastern Europe and other Countries of the UNDP-GEF Global ABS Project that promotes the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol in 24 countries. He is providing direct support to 7 UNDP COs of the project (Albania, Belarus, Botswana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Africa and Tajikistan) and the national partners covered by the Project in the implementation of operational and technical activities, starting on 1 June 2017. Claudio previously served as Legal Officer in the Traditional Knowledge Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI). His fields of expertise include access to genetic resources and benefit sharing (ABS), traditional knowledge and intellectual property rights.
