Why a Protocol

Why an international Protocol to protect genetic resources and traditional knowledge?

Since it is a country of great biological and cultural wealth that supplies and uses genetic resources, to Mexico, the Nagoya Protocol represents an opportunity to establish benefit-sharing mechanisms, such as technology transfer or capacity building to set the grounds for a sustainable development model for the participation of every actor on a win-win basis.

The UNDP-SEMARNAT Project for the Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol contributes to the fulfillment of the international commitments undertaken by Mexico.
