Webinar on Mainstreaming Gender into ABS Under the Nagoya Protocol: Experimenting new Approaches to Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change
The theme for the International Women’s Day 2019, “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”, offers a great opportunity to discuss ways and approaches among ABS practitioners to ensure that different social-groups involved along ABS-compliant value chains, particularly women, youth and elderly are empowered to fully benefit from the utilization of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge.
This webinar will be the launch of the gender toolkit presenting the MIND Your Step! Gender Tool developed by the UNDP-GEF Global ABS Project. The toolkit features useful context, analytical approaches, case studies and lessons learned to guide development professionals working on genetic resources in their efforts to mainstream gender considerations into ABS compliant Value Chains and ensure that different social-groups do equally benefit from various ABS transactions and interventions.
