II Pan African Community of Practice on ABS in Seychelles

The second edition of the Pan African Community of Practice on ABS, organized by the UNDP-GEF Global ABS Project, will take place between 8th of July and the 11th of July, 2019, in Mahé, Seychelles.
Under the title “Doing sustainable business in Africa: Tools and innovations for the valorization of genetic resources to unlock the potential of Africa´s bio-economy and accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals”, this Community of Practice will bring together about 50 participants, including a wide array of ABS practitioners and experts, representing state actors, researchers and academia, businesses, local communities, civil society, development partners and specialized media.
The event will be structured over 4 days. Topics covered will be 1) Doing Business in Africa, the economic potential of genetic resources, 2) Introducing tools and innovations to develop ABS value chains and engineer a wide range of ABS partnerships especially with businesses to attract private investments, and 3) Increasing the political profile of ABS to fast-track the adoption of domestic ABS measures and the development of business-friendly strategies and policies to unlock the potential of bio-economy.
